Bowie Dick Test Pack for Sterilization

Bowie & Dick Test Packs are pre-assembled, single-use packs developed to assess the effectiveness of the air removal system in pre-vacuum (dynamic air removal) steam sterilizers.

Color Change: Yellow to black
Operating Conditions: 132°C for 3–5 minutes

The Bowie-Dick test is specifically intended for pre-vacuum type sterilizers. It is used to identify air leaks and insufficient air removal within the chamber. Traditional packs consist of folded, clean, preconditioned 100% cotton surgical towels with a commercially prepared Bowie-Dick test sheet placed at the center.

For testing, the pack should be positioned horizontally in the front bottom section of the sterilizer rack, near the door and above the drain, inside an otherwise empty chamber. The sterilizer should be operated at 134°C for 3.5 minutes. bowidict test.
